What you will do
As a Senior Policy Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic advice and coordination in support of strategic plans, policy positions, international partnerships, stakeholder relations and in response to external reporting requirements, embedding equity, diversity and inclusion considerations (EDI) therein. Issues are unique, complex, and of significant scope within a fixed time frame; they require original contributions as well as coordination of multiple sources of input from across the organization, tri-agencies, government organizations and the broader stakeholder community. They also require significant representation to multiple stakeholders at senior levels to convey difficult concepts related to the systemic change required to fully consider equity, diversity and inclusion as an essential component of high-quality research and innovation.
What you need to succeed
Education
-
An undergraduate degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to the position.
Experience
-
Experience collaborating with the research community or government partners, or other science and technology stakeholder stakeholders
-
Experience in analyzing multiple sources of information and findings, identifying and formulating options and recommendations
- Experience in equity, diversity and inclusion-focused public policy design, implementation and evaluation
-
Experience in project management
-
Experience in the coordination/facilitation of consultations, working groups or task forces
- Asset: Supervisory experience
Knowledge
-
Knowledge of granting agencies’ mandates, corporate structures, programs, strategic priorities and policies

Knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion analysis and issues related to research and innovation
- Knowledge of the policies, funding structures, trends and challenges related to university research and training
- Knowledge of project management techniques, methods and skills
- Asset: An understanding of the Canadian political and public policy process
