Program Evaluation Officer

Although the position to be staffed is a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) position, please note that the Evaluation Division is a joint division serving both Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and SSHRC.
The intent of this process is to staff two (2) 12-month term appointments with the possibility of extension, acting, assignment, secondment, or interchange. This process also aims to create a pool of partially and fully qualified candidates that may be used to staff similar term or indeterminate positions within both Agencies.

What you will do
As a Program Evaluation Officer, your responsibilities will include:
Conduct small evaluation projects, or portions of more complex ones, and provide advice on evaluation-related issues for NSERC or/and SSHRC. Develops options and strategy proposals for assigned aspects within evaluation files/issues and manages stakeholder relations relevant to these. Along with others in the evaluation team, develops, proposes and implements plans for socio-economic evaluative studies and research on issues within the agency’s mandate.
What you need to succeed
Education
- Graduation from a recognized university with a bachelor's degree
- Specialization in public administration, economics, sociology, statistics, evaluation, or social research methods would be an asset
- Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards
Experience
- Experience conducting statistical analyses using SPSS
- Experience with data collection methods
- Experience reporting on evaluative studies or survey
Knowledge
- Knowledge of methods of statistical analysis
- Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods
- Knowledge evaluation and performance measurement policies and standards
