What you will do
As a UX Designer on TGMS, you will ensure that usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction are prioritized at every step of the project. You will design intuitive and inclusive solutions that align with real user needs and elevate the overall product experience. You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with project goals, user expectations and business objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- User advocacy and collaboration: work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure user needs are understood and prioritized.
- Agile integration: collaborate with sprint teams to align on design priorities and embed user-centred thinking throughout the product lifecycle. Develop and maintain a design system to support consistency and efficiency.
- Interaction design and accessibility: design elements and interfaces that are intuitive, responsive, and aligned with Government of Canada accessibility standards.
- User research and testing: lead research activities such as A/B tests, interviews, usability tests to validate design decisions and enhance user satisfaction.
- Design artifacts: develop user personas, conceptual models, wireframes, and prototypes to guide design direction and support stakeholder engagement.
- Continuous improvement: stay current with UX best practices, and bring new ideas to continuously improve the TGMS platform’s user experience.
What you need to succeed
Education
- Completion of a post-secondary program in UX, human-computer interaction (HCI), interaction design, digital design, or another related field OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience
- Experience working on Information Technology (IT) projects or supporting enterprise-level operational systems.
- Experience facilitating discussions and workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in designing and building scalable business solutions that address both internal and external user needs.
- Experience working with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Pages, and Dynamics 365.
- Experience conducting usability testing and applying UX tools and best practices to inform design decisions.
- Experience collaborating in cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, business analysts, and policy or program staff, to deliver user-centred digital solutions.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of UX principles including user-centered design and usability heuristics.
- Knowledge of UX design processes, such as user research, prototyping, and usability testing.
- Knowledge of Microsoft PowerApps and its role in building user-facing solutions.
- Knowledge of WCAG accessibility standards.
Knowledge - Assets
- Knowledge of the Government of Canada Policy on Service and Digital, the Directive on the Management of Projects and Programs, and the Canada.ca Design System.
